Snoring Catfish - (Wertheimeria maculata)
Fish Details, Description and Information Below:

🐟 Snoring Catfish – (Wertheimeria maculata) – Rare South American Catfish

The Snoring Catfish (Wertheimeria maculata) is a rare and unusual Doradid catfish from the river systems of Brazil. Its common name comes from the low, grunting or “snoring” sounds it produces, which are believed to be used for communication and possibly territorial displays. This species features a stout, armored body with bold dark spots on a lighter base and strong pectoral spines for defense.

This is a slow-growing, long-lived species that thrives in large aquariums with hiding spots and moderate water flow. It is peaceful toward most fish but should not be housed with very small species it might eat.
