The Six-Banded Distichodus is a large, active, and beautifully patterned African characin known for its six bold vertical black bars across a golden to reddish-brown body. Native to the Congo River Basin, this species is both a strong swimmer and an impressive display fish for large aquariums.

While peaceful when young, Six-Banded Distichodus can become territorial and semi-aggressive as they mature, especially toward similar-shaped fish. They are best suited for spacious aquariums with plenty of swimming room and sturdy décor.
