The Unicolor Eel (Mastacembelus unicolor) is a rare and unique freshwater spiny eel species native to river systems and floodplains across Central and West Africa. As its name suggests, this species is characterized by its uniform brown to olive coloration, elongated snake-like body, and subtle mottling. Peaceful toward most tankmates but predatory toward very small fish, the Unicolor Eel is a fascinating oddball species for experienced aquarists who can provide a spacious, well-covered aquarium.
