Shrimp

Home/Store/Shrimp

Ghost, Amano, Vampire and bamboo shrimp are suitable for aquariums ranging from 10 to 75 gallons, while red cherry, crystal, and bee shrimp are better suited for tanks of 10 gallons or less. To prevent shrimp from being sucked into the filter, place a sponge pre-filter over the intake screen of a hang-on (HOB) or canister filter. Dedicated shrimp breeders often opt for air-driven sponge filters. Live plants like Java moss or Najas are recommended for shrimp tanks. The substrate should be pH neutral or an aquatic plant medium, with specific materials available for dwarf freshwater shrimp. Mature aquariums are preferred for shrimp keeping due to stability and natural food sources.
