The Wolf Fish (Hoplias aimara), also known as the Aimara or Giant Wolf Fish, is one of the largest and most formidable freshwater predators in South America. Native to the fast-flowing rivers and deep pools of the Amazon and Orinoco basins, this fish is renowned for its raw power, massive head, and impressive set of razor-sharp teeth.

Reaching lengths of over 3 feet in the wild, the Aimara is an apex predator capable of taking down large prey, including fish, crustaceans, and even small mammals in its natural habitat. In captivity, it demands a large, secure aquarium and is best suited for highly experienced fish keepers.
