The Serpae Tetra (Hyphessobrycon eques) is a small, vibrant schooling fish known for its bright reddish-orange body, black dorsal fin, and subtle iridescence. Originating from slow-moving rivers and floodplains in South America, this hardy and active species is popular among beginner and experienced aquarists alike.

When kept in groups of at least 6–8 individuals, Serpae Tetras display lively schooling behavior, bringing movement and color to community tanks. While generally peaceful, they can nip fins if kept in too small a group or with slow, long-finned tankmates.
