The Salmon Catfish (Chrysichthys brachynema) is a rarely seen African catfish species native to West and Central African river systems. It is recognized for its elongated body, silver-bronze sheen, and long flowing barbels, giving it an elegant yet powerful presence in large aquariums.

Despite its name, it is not related to true salmon, but rather a member of the family Claroteidae.
