Fish Details, Description and Information Below:

🐟 Snakehead Gudgeon – (Giuris margaritacea) – Brackish/Freshwater Predator

The Snakehead Gudgeon (Giuris margaritacea) is a large predatory gudgeon found across Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Northern Australia. Despite its common name, it is not a true snakehead but shares a similar elongated body and predatory feeding habits. Its appearance is marked by a streamlined shape, a large mouth, and golden to brown coloration with faint vertical barring.

This species is hardy, adaptable, and can be kept in freshwater or low-end brackish conditions, making it popular among oddball fish keepers. However, its predatory nature means it should only be housed with similarly sized or larger tankmates.
