Albino Asian Redtail Catfish - (Hemibagrus nemurus)
Fish Details, Description and Information Below:

🐟 Albino Asian Redtail Catfish - (Hemibagrus nemurus)

The Albino Asian Redtail Catfish is a rare and visually stunning color variant of the standard Hemibagrus nemurus, instantly recognizable by its creamy-white body, pinkish eyes, and vibrant red or orange tail fin. This striking appearance makes it highly sought after by serious aquarists, though it shares the same care challenges as the normal form — large adult size, powerful predatory instincts, and the need for enormous space.

Native to Southeast Asia’s rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, this fish is an active and robust predator, requiring a dedicated keeper with both experience and the proper facilities to house it long-term.

🌊 Habitat & Care

  • 🏠 Tank Size: 300+ gallons or a large, well-filtered pond.
  • 🌊 Prefers strong water movement with high oxygen levels.
  • 🪵 Provide large hides such as driftwood and rock caves for resting.

🍽️ Diet

  • 🍤 Carnivorous — feeds on fish, shrimp, worms, and quality carnivore pellets.
  • 🐟 Will consume tankmates small enough to swallow whole.

⚖️ Temperament

  • 🐠 Semi-aggressive, highly predatory.
  • 🚫 Best kept alone or with other equally large and robust fish.

🧠 Behavior & Special Considerations

  • 🌡️ Temperature: 72–82°F (22–28°C).
  • 💧 pH: 6.0–7.5.
  • 📏 Size: 24 inches (60 cm) in captivity; can exceed 30 inches (76 cm) in the wild.
  • ⚠️ Not suitable for small or community aquariums.
