Arowana are generally a solitary fish and in the home aquarium, they should be kept with similarly sized fish that are not slow-moving or docile. Arowanas need a large tank as an adult they can reach lengths of 40", need good filtration as they are messy eaters and produce a lot of waste due to their size. The tank should be well-lit, with plenty of oxygen and a varied diet. Arowanas can live for many years, and with the right care, they can reach the ripe old age of 20 years or more.
